Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

If you can name that theme song, then congrats. If you cannot then blame your parents because if you know it thn A. you were alive to watch that show or B. your parents were alive to watch that show and sang it to you. Shout out to Amy and Randall.

I guess that song is more directed to me since I have neglected this blog the past month. So let me catch you up in the best way I know how, bullet points!

  • Amy D came in and spent the weekend with us while J worked the Spring game
  • I ventured out to the Hogspys (Arkansas' athletics version of the ESPYs) with Casey
  • After many years of saying "one day", I finally went to Dickson and watched the Joe Martin Stage Race (a weekend of professional cyclist races around town). I watched the end of the 100 mile ride, those men and women are amazing.
  • We wrapped up the end of Spring semester with lots of parties and good food.
  • Our church put on a finals study hall and J and I were the "chaperones". Crazy huh?
  • I went to Austin and San Antonio for my sweet friend, Amanda's bachelorette party. We spent the weekend laying out and having a great time. We are really excited to make a trip back down there in a week for her wedding!
Now for the really big news about why I have not been blogging much. Our 4-legged child underwent surgery. We went two weeks ago to an orthopedic vet. He told us that Fen's bones were growing incorrectly and we would need to do surgery to fix the incorrect growth. They took her that day and did surgery Wednesday. Fen was in lovely yellow casts for a week.

As you can see form the picture above, we went back a week later and had her casts removed. The vet said she is looking great, but she does have a long road of recovery ahead of her. Hopefully if all goes well she will be cleared to run and be a normal pup on July 30th.

Her recovery has been okay, she has challenged her parents constantly by trying to run and jump. But overall she has been a really great pup in regards to what she has been through. So pray for a quick recovery and that Fen understands that she needs to be calm in this time so she can heal.

We head to Dallas and then San Antonio next week with my rents for Amanda's wedding. Fen will be boarded at our vets office. We will miss her but know that is the best place for her. She will be making an appearance in Dallas July 4-11. Please come visit her and give her lots of loving, but do not bring any other pups, this riles her up and remember, don't let her jump on you!

J and I know we will be terrible parents because we will be gone on Fens 1st birthday, but we trust Amy and Randall will make up for it by spoiling her (how do we know this, because they already do! Best grand-dog-parents).

Where are we going you ask? For our 1 year anniversary we are tripping it to the Dominican Republic! We are beyond excited and so ready to get away from email, phones, etc. Our first year of marriage has been great. From learning how to live with a boy, coaching changes, possible job changes, a DOG, a dog with leg problems, a new car, lots of visitors, sickness, 401Ks, investing, taxes, splitting holidays and all that comes with being married (or just being us), we have been through a lot, but are better, stronger people for it. Plus we are just excited what the next 50+ years will bring. We are really excited to celebrate all that and how we have been so blessed with family, friends and life.

Speaking of anniversary, it is our 11 month anniversary today and my MIL's birthday! So celebrations all around!

So this is just a quick update on life. I am holding myself accountable to post more this summer (except on vacation)! So if it seems like a long time in between posts, please let me know (ahem Kel, love you!).

Also I have been thinking that I might start posting more about my food endeavors, workouts, healthy food alternatives, etc. So be on the lookout for that and feel free to share or ask questions!

love love love y'all,
K

Apparently paper is more appetizing to my pup.
A small stray ran up on our house one night. It stayed with us for about 12 hours, Fen thought it was a toy.

Fen going potty first time after her surgery. If you have been around surgery's this is a critical part, hence why we are so excited. Plus the ground was wet, so we had her casts in plastic bags. Classy.
Yes, snow. That happened in May 2013 in Arkansas. Crazy.
