Christmas

Merry Christmas! It is finals week at the U of A and I am ready to start all of the Christmas activities. I have almost all of the Christmas shopping done, now I just need to wrap and send out the rest of the Christmas cards.
I know the holiday season can get busy and stressful. There is a card I keep on my desk at the office and it says "Worrying is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere." (by Glen Turner). This is just a great quote for the holiday season. Do not worry yourself sick, enjoy each moment and remember the reason we have this season. Not for presents and stress, but for love and joy that a Savior was born. So Merry Christmas!

Since you have not had a Fenway update in a while, here is Fenway overload. She had her stitches removed Saturday from her surgery and is doing GREAT. Almost all of her baby teeth are gone and she weighs 23 pounds!

Watch dog.

Bat Dog!

Her spot when I cook.

Pretty girl.

Hubs and one of his girls.

Cat dog.

I mean, that face, who can say no?
I guess you need some of the hubs and me.
Date night at the Arkansas basketball game.

Fayetteville Town Square.
The first video is of Fenway fighting the door stop and the second is of Fen's new best friend Major. Major is J's old roommates Johns new dog. He is a chocolate lab and is so cute, as you can see Fenway cannot wait until they can play with each other. I told her that she needs to enjoy the time she is bigger than him because it will not last long.

Speaking of new dogs, Fenway cannot wait to meet all her cousin dogs at Christmas!

Also our newest wreath:
I made that!
Also, yes, the hook is terrible! But it was already there when we moved in and I haven't taken it down!

Married Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! I know I am a little late, but I still wanted to say it. This Thanksgiving was J and I's FIRST as a married couple. It was also my FIRST Thanksgiving to not spend with my family. As much as I tried to not think about it, or deny it, it was hard to not be there. I called the fam (the whole big fam) Thursday morning and it made me so happy to hear their voices. I felt like I was in that kitchen with them, waiting to eat, play games and laugh.

But I wasn't and that was sad. So if I can share anything, treasure every holiday you spend with family. I missed everything and everyone from our family Thanksgiving. I cannot wait to see everyone at Christmas.

I did get to see J on Thanksgiving and we had Thanksgiving lunch with the team. He didn't have to go in till later on Thursday, so I was thankful for the time I got to spend with him. But even sadder, he had to work after that.

Arkansas had our last football game Friday. I did get family time there as J's parents, sister and her boyfriend all came in! Of course, the game was FREEZING. So I watched the second half of the game inside (and stole some cookies from the hubsters desk, Thanks J!). It was good to have them here, and Arkansas almost pulled off the upset against LSU! Now J is in a waiting game on his job. We know God has a great plan for him and us, and we are excited to see what it is. Just pray for the AD's, coaches, players, staff, families of the staff, etc. in this really big change that could happen.

Lastly, I just need to say a big thank you to J. He keeps me grounded, loved, happy, laughing, smiling, giddy and just plain blessed. I love you J. Happy 5 months (on Thanksgiving)!

Best day ever.

Handsome hubs.
love your crazy wife,
One of my Christmas gifts last year from J, AMAZING!

love love love y'all,
K

P.S. Fen has been limping so she is going in for x-rays Wednesday morning and they moved up her  "surgery" for that day as well. So prayers for our little girl!
She knows what is coming.

Believe

From The Message:
"A sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life."
Phil 4:7

From the New Living Translation:
"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
1 Thess. 5:18

These verses are speaking volumes into our life right now and we just wanted to share. We aren't entirely sure what the near future has for us, but we have to keep using God as our rock and trusting Him completely in every area of our life. Not that we shouldn't be doing that every day, but especially right now our days have much less worry in them when we focus on Him.

Sorry I haven't written in a while. In a quick catch up my mom came in 2 weeks ago and we had a blast!
How I greeted her at the airport. I think my dimensions on the letters need some work!
We went to Crystal Bridges Art Museum, saw John McCain there, went to NWA boutique show, took Fenway on her first trip to Petsmart and the dog park and just had a great weekend! We miss you tons Amy D, thanks for a FAB weekend. (She also made me a great table runner and made going to Hobby Lobby tons of fun, Miss you Mom!)

Of course we must catch you up on the Fenway...
1st trip to the dog park

Weirdest sleeping positions ever!

Skinny little girl.

She arranges herself on the couch so she can rest her head on the pillow!

Tuckered out from the dog park.

Watching TV
Asleep on Amy D.

This was Fen running at the dog park. Not the fastest, but the CUTEST!
Her new favorite spot in the house! Mom thinks it is hilarious, Dad, not so much.
We are really excited to see J's parents for the game and to spend the weekend with Laura and Andrew!
Hope everyone is having a great Monday and Happy Thanksgiving!

Fun times

I finally uploaded my pictures from our FAB weekend and here they are to share.

Kel and Shaun came in Friday night, we went to dinner and had a great time catching up. Then in true Kel and Kristin fashion we got up Saturday morning and made Nutella pop tarts and breakfast casserole. We headed off for an early game and to hang out on the field for a bit. It was a beautiful crisp fall day and Kel & Shaun brought in a win!
Panoramic view of the field

On the field after the big win.

The pants I am getting Kelley for Christmas.

The husband.

Since I missed out on the funnel cake at the fair!
We had such a wonderful time with Kel and Shaun, THANK YOU for coming in! Especially since Shaun started his job this Monday after our weekend. Congrats Shaun! Seriously we felt so blessed to have visitors and such fun, funny and joyful ones at that, we love you!

Of course they spoiled the Fensters, they are such a wonderful aunt and uncle.
Missing Kel and Shaun.
Sleepy girl.

Fen playing with her bone.

J is off to South Carolina this weekend and the Momsters is coming in. I am super excited for her to be here and love all the guests we are getting to host! Y'all make us feel so LOVED.

Mom and I will to our now annual Arkansas tradition of the NWA Boutique show and also visiting the new art museum up here and maybe taking Fenway on her first trip to the dog park!

J & I also scheduled for Fenway to get spayed! So if you can pray for our little girl (and her mom) on December 6th. They will keep her overnight and I just want it to all go okay!

Now back to my question challenge:
Describe 10 pet peeves you have:
  1. Touching your teeth on metal silverware (me or someone else). Especially when they bite down on it and pull the silverware out of their mouth, yuck.
  2. Touching the bottom of unglazed plates/cups, etc.
  3. Having my sock seam touch my big toe.
  4.  Back handed compliments.
  5. Having to defrost my windshield.
  6. That there isn't bags of just all red jolly ranchers.
  7. Washing your car and it being dirty the next morning.
  8. My feet being cold.
  9. When people spell y'all wrong.
  10. The Sonic ice in NWA. So disappointing. OH, and Sonic's that don't sell bags of Sonic ice.

Catch Up

I guess where we last left off we were going to Dallas for J's birthday.
About to get on the road.
We had a great time being in Dallas, relaxing, and hanging out with family. On Friday night J got us AWESOME tickets to Cirque du Soleil.
Our great seats and an amazing show.

Family before the show.

Mom and me.

The cutest parents ever.

Before the show.
From Market in the Meadow to golf lessons to a sleepy girl..
We had a fantastic time in Dallas. Thanks to everyone for making it and J's birthday so special. Also Fenway loved meeting Cousin Jackson and cannot wait to meet Cousin Ellie, Jenny and Annie.

A big thanks to Annie, Kelley and Shaun for treats for the Fenners. Here is her encounter with the treat when we returned home.
She is a silly puppy. Speaking of Shaun and Kelley, we CANNOT wait to see them this Friday. Here is hoping the bring warm weather, good luck and have safe travels. Yeah!

The sad news of today is that my phone has no more memory space. So until I can clear some of it out, I cannot take pictures or video, tear. But J has been taking some for me and he was wonderful and emailed them to me so I could share with you. Plus a few I didn't know he had taken.
This was a sneaky photo by J. I thought Fen was my kitchen helper, in truth she was waiting for me to drop something.

She really likes to cuddle now. Here she was almost smothering me because she wanted to cuddle on my face.

Another sneaky picture by J. This was a bathroom break for Fenway on the way back to Fayetteville.

Vampire dog. Yes, she was asleep like this.

Getting so big!

We know, we know. We are ridiculous with pictures of her, but that face is so cute! Here is to hoping I clear out my phone and can take more pictures. Maybe I will even post one of my new haircut!

Last Tuesday J and I celebrated 4 months of being married. We got to look back and see how blessed we have been these past few months and cannot wait for many more. I cannot believe it has only been 4 months! It has truly been the best 4 months of my life and I cannot wait for many many more! And also to see what God has in store!

Now back to my challenge, the questions. This one, 30 things I would like to do before I am 30. So I have a little less than 5 years.
  1. Go to a cooking class.
  2. Become a mom.
  3. Learn to sew.
  4. Go cliff jumping.
  5. Read the whole bible.
  6. Run a half-marathon.(Dunzo, twice)
  7. Find a way to bless my parents the way they have blessed me.
  8. Maintain this blog.
  9. Learn ALL of Mamaw's secrets when making desserts.
  10. See the St. Louis Arch.
  11. Make a pecan pie with my Mom and have it be actual pecan pie, not our normal pecan soup. =)
  12. Play a round of golf with my Dad.
  13. Take at least one trip a year with J and cell phones are not allowed.
  14. Learn how to take great pictures (and maybe get a great camera for it).
  15. Volunteer at an animal shelter (and attempt to not bring one home).
  16. Learn to surf.
  17. Get a tattoo.
  18. Help someone else accomplish something on their bucket list.
  19. Speak at a conference.
  20. Meet the love of my life.
  21. Establish a family tradition with J.
  22. Cook one recipe (at least) by Julia Child (and wish that Gabby could be cooking with me).
  23. Go to a NFL game.
  24. Enter a food item in the State Fair of Texas and hopefully win(I am looking at you Randall).
  25. Find a new hobby.
  26. Paddleboard. (done on our honeymoon)
  27. Take a self-defense class.
  28. Get a family photo done.
  29. Say "no" and not feel guilty.
  30. Try a macaroon (from a place known to make good macaroons).
AT points this was really hard. I encourage you all do this and share it!

Monday Morning

I got a wonderful text from my MOH last night reminding me about my blog, thanks Kel! =) Sorry I have been a tad MIA recently. But I really do appreciate everyone who asks/reminds/talks to me about my blog, it makes me feel like it is not totally in vain. And to be honest it takes some guilt away that I cannot talk to all of you all the time about my everyday life here in Fayetteville. Plus it stretches me to be more open and share my life.

It hasn't been too eventful here in Fayetteville. I was feeling a tad under the weather this weekend, so I took it easy with my girl. J obvi (abbrev for you Neugs) had work and a VERY long day. They had 2 rain delays and only played partially into the 3rd quarter because of all the delays. Finally the SEC called the game because the rain didn't have any intention of stopping and the game wasn't very close. So WE WON! This week is a bye week and J actually had the WHOLE day off yesterday, I know right? I didn't even know what to do with myself to have a whole day with the hubby, it feels like forever. So we went to church, ran errands, got chairs for our backyard, walked the dog, watched football and went to a marriage conference-thing at church. So not exactly a relaxing day, but so much fun to do it with my husband.

Since it is as bye week, J has the weekend OFF as well! So we are heading our little butts down to Dallas to celebrate his birthday! He will be another year older on the 21st and we are SUPER excited to spend it in Dallas. I promise to take lots of pics of our Dallas weekend so I can document it well on here. But right now the rest is a surprise for him, so I don't want to ruin it!

We will be bringing the mess dog with us. She is getting so big!
Hello!

Just make yourself comfy.

Watching the game.

Exhausted after a walk.

Mom, no more pictures.
Her favorite thing to do is get under this bucket and then pop out. It is pretty cute.

Do you think we take enough pictures of this dog? Ha.

Now on to the question:

What are 5 things that make you the most happy right now:
  1. My husband. He is amazing and fun and funny and loving and handsome and sweet and helpful and caring and more than I could ever ask for. I love that I get to live life with him and am blessed beyond belief by him.
  2. Fenway. Seriously, dogs are the best pets. She is always so happy and fun to be around, even when she is biting you. I can't believe how fast she is growing up and how much we love her. It really is a neat experience to start to understand the process of being a parent and how much work/love/frustration/care/worry, etc. goes into being a parent.
  3. Sunshine (and warmth). We have had rain for the past 6 Fridays it seems like. Plus last week we started our "fall" weather. Frost on my windshield is NOT Fall weather. I just love to be warm and in the sunshine, it makes me a happier person. I only wish my office had a window. So if you have a window in your office, LUCKY!
  4. Laughing/Smiling. I remember reading somewhere how many more times a 4 year old laughs than an adult. I remember being in grade school and just always having a smile on my face or laughing, sometimes for no reason. I realized when I smile it is easier to make it through a day, easier to take on a hard project and easier to have a happy outlook. So I have really tried to appreciate each smile, laugh, fun moment and remind me that life is good.
  5. Friends/Family. I know I have said this before, but I have the best friends and family in the whole world. They ground me/push me/love me/ challenge me and the list goes on and on. I love the memories we have together and thinking about how many more we will have. Yesterday was the Royal Family Outing to the State Fair of Texas. A serious tradition in my family. It was so hard to miss it, but I love that my family still goes and sends pictures afterward allowing us all to join in on the fun. Or our TX-OU party. It may have been bigger in past years but it is always fun. Plus Saturday I got to Facetime with the party from my living room so I felt a part of the action. Y'all spoil me and I love y'all LOTS.
Happy Monday everyone!

love love love y'all,
K

P.S. Totes broke out the UGGS today.
